I'm tearing up as I read this for multiple reasons! 💕

1. I am so touched that not only did you try this practice on, but that it moved you to a deeper understanding of yourself and now you're sharing that love with others.

2. Your conclusion that you are a creative - and we all are too! 🎉I am the least artistic person I know and have thought for 4 decades that I was not creative in the least. It is only recently that I have been able to reframe this for myself, specifically as it relates to my writing. My friend hosts a podcast called "Created Creative" and has helped me to see that we are all creative in myriad of ways!

CVD! I am so touched that you laid eyes on this piece! Thank you so much for reading, for inspiring me with your magnitude of grace and goodness, and for writing about the I AM practice. I would love to tune into Created Creative - it sounds like the perfect next step from here! <3

Here's the link for the podcast - both the hosts are ministers (my friend is Ruth), so it can get a little churchy from time to time, but they are super progressive people! https://createdcreativepodcast.com/

Bringing you hot chocolate in the closet, sitting beside you on the floor in silence for a bit, asking, "hey, have you ever tried using little silicone molds to preserve moss inside if resin and then, I dunno, make some earrings or a pendant out of them? Sounds fun, ammiright?" Which is, to say, OF COURSE you are a Creative, K. In every sense of the word. You are a weaver of words and outfits and art (those waves!). Better still, you pull the art out of others by SEEING the beauty they create, so I would add that you're both an ARTIST and a CONNOISSEUR. A MAKER and a MAVEN. And we love you for it. Keep going, you're doing an amazing job. ♥️💙🩵💛🤍

😭😭🤍✨ well. I just. Kendall. I know Big Love exists because of YOU. The compassion you have and the way you know how to hold just the right space… I am learning how to receive this. I hope to be able to reciprocate some sprinkles back your way. And the moss preserved resin jewelry?! 😍 Let’s please do that.

*knocks tentatively on the closet door*

I'm late to the party, but I brought mini (metaphorical) marshmallows!

"...I was battling both the idea of being so pretentious as to believe that I, meeee, the uneducated swine of the creative realm, could be an arteest while simultaneously feeling that this conclusion is not individual to just me."

This is so down-right relatable. Thank you for pinning this to the page for us. And thanks for the reminder that, as people endeavoring to live an artful life, our expression isn't limited to one medium. I am creating art as I cook for friends, and as I engage in conversation, and as I clean. Even spinning under breezy tree branches, my eyes are like the lens of a camera and I'm creating an artistic experience just for me. 🌳

🥹 Lauren this is the first thing I laid eyes on upon entering Substack this morning and oh. My. Word.

Your lens with which you view the world is the kaleidoscope vision of my dreams.

Thank you for bringing the best marshmallows to the table and thank you for reading.

Happy Sunday 🩵

I guess I’m in line now for the closet space and you might need a mini fridge in there too for all the mugs of goodness we’re bringing you.

I’m about to go read Christine’s piece! I can’t wait. Thank you for sharing how this impacted you on a deep level and encouraging us, fellow readers, to do so as well. I’m wondering- did “I am a people pleaser” come up at all? I’m imagining I’ll have to do some chit chat if that part shows up during this practice and remind it that it can please others but only when it’s genuine…not to avoid disappointment.

So excited for you to try the practice!! I wish I had done this with a family member to help me keep track of all the chit-chat that surfaced- I tried to stay positive, but definitely veered off the tracks a few times. "I AM ashamed, and I AM embarrassed" surfaced more than once and the shame was connected to people-pleasing. Still very much a WIP over here.

Thank you for reading along and for your thoughtful comment- please let us know how the practice goes on your end!

P.S. the mini-fridge and mugs. this sings to my heart. thank you.

Witnessing you in the tender claiming and bringing you a mug of (iced?) hot chocolate heaped with whipped cream. I know this feels like brave, new territory for you, but this comes as no surprise over here. I mean, that Shrek post. That was all right brain. xoxo

OK- Is there a trader joes in your vicinity?! They have a non-dairy, coconut-based whipped cream in a spray can that is so delightful- I can hardly talk about it without drooling. And- I am not really a coconut fan- but this is so GEWD!

I love this, it reminds me of my younger self! You are a creative force, we all are. We are creations ourselves...! So how can we not be creatives with our own talents, capabilities and abilities?! Enjoy Kaylen, it's all about the process, that's why I create. Not to be someone, to become myself.

last week someone asked me for whom I created 'Yawe', who my target group was. She is still recovering from my answer ... No one, I created it for myself, because I sensed I had to do this.

No economic goal? No. Because when I create I open myself for life, for the Universe and they can share all their answer to the questions I have. Not by phoning me ... (I wish that was true, much easier) but guiding me through the process. It slows me down so I can listen to my inner needs and what i wish to understand more deeper, when I now the question I have I can search for the answer. In essence it is my meditation, because I am fully present when I create. And the end result I love to share whit the ones who are open to receive it.

Enjoy Kaylen!

K! Please scootch over in the closet because I want to sit with you there. I'll hum a tune and you can create anything and everything you want. Your whole live is one big creative act and I'm so glad I get to be a part of it, no matter how small. I love you BIG and love your discovery process, also how you speak to yourself in your head is 100% relatable.. I too have search parties that deploy when I need evidence ;)

You're not alone, ever. I second what Kendall said - a lovelet retreat is in order please and thank you! <3

Mesa!!! I would buy all the closets in the world and sew them together if it meant that I could cuddle up with you in there. We could have our lovelet retreat from the Big Closet! LOL But srsly, yes- we all need to drop our coordinates so that we can meet in the middle. To be in the actual, living, breathing presence...of our Lovelets?? That would be a game-changer to LIFE!

Thank you so much for always holding me, and seeing me.

I hope to pour back into your cup sometime VERY soon. 💛 🐞
