As an introvert, I'm definitely going to keep these in mind the next time I'm at a party! I am extroverted once the conversation starts but the absolute worst at initial small talk.
“ when we feel that there is some social anxiety floating around a room we enter, we think, as pleasers- that it is our purpose to absorb it. Hear this: it is not your job”
I had not thought of that.
We don’t always have to be “on” and we can leave early! Shocking.
ULTRA SHOCKING! I love this! Thank you for reading and participating in this convo dear Mika. I value your input deeply. I can feel from oceans away your genuine kindness and comfort in your support. <3
Ohhhh how much I relate to Wallflower... I feel this way so often.
K- I love your suggestions, especially the keeping games on hand! My favorite thing in a group setting is a fun game night :) And of course Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my most favorites!!
Oh your point about empaths reading the room and being reminded that we are not responsible for it resonates so deeply with me! I sometimes hide in the kitchen and help out there. My husband, who is definitely not a people pleaser, but the biggest introvert I ever met, often plays with the kids. I see that as win-win, because he doesn't have to engage with small talk and the other adults don't have to worry about their children and can relax! We also are usually the first to leave! 🤣
Reconsidering my chosen family & thinking I should have scooted into yours! 😂
I like these additional tips of kitchen assistance and daddy day care while in party mode- you are amazing CVD. Thank you for your thoughtful comment this morning! 🤍

I have that same issue! It's hard to stay surface level in a purposeful way.
Thank you for reading and sharing here <3

How to spot a people pleaser - they always tell you the reason why they can’t do something 😅
You are such a great supporter too! 🥰
